DISCO | MUSIC APPLICATION
UI/UX DESIGN, RESEARCH
Disco is an application that allows for a user to express themselves musically through a social platform. This is accomplished by Disco's unique feature; sharing photos and memories along with a song on Disco's platform. Users can follow their favorite artists, friends, and family, connecting with them socially and musically, all on one platform. Disco allows for discovering new music and users in a way no other application provides. Providing users the opportunity to curate their profile with their favorite photos, songs, memories, playlists, albums and more; this app is the musical scrapbook people have been longing for.
UX RESEARCH:
The main competitors for music applications already on the market include Spotify and Apple Music. I needed to understand what these apps were successful with and lacking in in order to create a dynamic application that embodied the strengths but stood out in it’s own unique way.

USER RESEARCH SUMMARIES
Age 24, Student. Brianna also uses Spotify for her music listening services. She listens to music from 1-3 hours a day. She uses Spotify for the ease of use and for the vast array of songs and artists in the app. She likes very small artists and bands with not a huge following, so it is important that these artists are still easily accessible for her to listen to. Her critique about Spotify is that it recommends music she genuinely isn't at all interested in, so she wishes that that music wouldn't even show on her feed.
Summary: Wants an app that caters to her very specific taste in music; including artists and bands that are hard to find and mainly unknown to many people.
Age 16, Student. Kevin uses Apple Music as his music streaming app. Kevin uses this application 5+ hours a day: when he is waking up in the morning, walking to class, studying, hanging out with friends, driving, etc. What he enjoys about Spotify over other applications is the discography; he is able to discover new music every single day. His critique of the app is not being able to share music with friends who have other music applications that may not have the song.
Summary: Sharing music with friends is very important. He wants to be able to share music regardless of platform, without being limited to sharing certain songs between apps.

WIREFRAMES

Disco's unique feature of individualized visual profiles that are curated to each listener differentiates this app from any other music app on the market. A user can easily see what their friends are listening to just by looking through their feed or searching profiles. Not only this, the discover page allows users to visually engage with content posted on the platform, giving them access to new artists, users, and content based on their activity. This algorythim based design will also allow inspiring artists the opportunity to get their music noticed. Disco is not only an infinite musical library, but a platform for endless artist discovery and sharing.
